Crewmen robbed while dozing off in ship

MIRI: Thirteen crew members were robbed of valuables by unknown masked robbers armed with machetes while their ship was berthed about two nautical miles off Miri waters on Sunday night.
No one was injured in the 8pm incident.
The robbers were said to have entered the ship while most crew members were asleep.
One of the victims, who did not wish to be named, said the incident was over very quickly.
“I was asleep that time … it was pitch dark when an unknown man pointed a sharp object at me and demanded for my valuables,” he said.
A police report was lodged at Miri Central Police Station (CPS) yesterday.
According to sources, after the robbers fled the scene, the crew alerted maritime personnel for help.
Total loss was estimated to be RM82,000.
